You make me smile

Happy almost 2010 y'all! Anyone have spectacular plans for ringing in the next decade? We'll probably keep it low key here, which is a-ok with me :-)

Here's a little card I whipped up the other night with the creative pocket I bought from Melissa Phillips. She makes the prettiest stuff I tell you ... not even close to my style of stuff, but I just love it and wish I could put things together like she does! Not quite shabby chic, but probably about as close as I can get! LOL I stitched around the paper and inked up the cream card base to age it a bit. I also inked the tag and the silk ribbon on the tag to age those as well. The sentiment and ribbon are from PTI - Signature Greetings and some pretty Sweet Blush grosgrain. Other than that I have no idea who the products are by - sorry!

Hope you are enjoying the winding down of 2009 and looking forward to 2010 and all that will may bring! :-)

Thanks for stopping by :-)

Quilled Crab Anyone?

Happy Tuesday y'all! Just popping in to share a little project that I created for my aunt and uncle who are big on shore living. My uncle is a boat captain and they have named their house "Crab Cove." When I saw this little quilled paper crab, I knew I had to make them something with it. I decided on making a little art piece using a 3.5 x 5" frame. I made some waves with some blue paper and a border punch. I did 3 layers and inked over them with a little blue ink to give it some texture. For the sand, I ripped some kraft paper and smushed my chamomile ink pad over it as well. I hand wrote "Crab Cove" with a navy marker and glued the crab down. A super easy and fast gift that I hope they will enjoy.

Thanks for stopping in! Hope you are having a great week :-)

Gift Card Set

Hi again! Thanks for all your sweet comments about my PTI Blog Hop project. Today, I am sharing another gift idea. I made a set of note cards for my best bud for Christmas. I kept the colors fun and cheery and used a variety of sentiments from PTI's Signature Greetings stamp set. I love Dawn's sentiments - they are so fun.

Here's the set all packaged up in a clear card box. This really makes it look professional! And here's the assortment of cards. To start, I stamped the polka dots and then the flourishes. I went back and added the sentiments and a strip of twill tape to separate the two spaces. In general, these were super quick and easy. I kind of wanted to add a button on the left side of the tape, but thought it best to keep them nice and flat for mailing. The set got a rave review, so I will whipping up more of these soon! :-)

Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Supplies Used (all PTI):
Stamps: Polka Dot Basics II, Signature Greetings, Fancy Flourishes
Ink: Black, Raspberry Fizz
Paper: White, True Black

Papertrey December Blog Hop

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Papertrey's monthly blog hop is tonight and the challenge for December was to use some holiday decorations to inspire a project. I decided to create a framed piece of holiday art.

I love this little Santa ornament that I got last year. It's just fun and I love the classic colors. He's my inspiration piece ...I made a little ribbon tree to fit a 5 x 7 frame I picked up a craft store. I started with a New Leaf card stock triangle and roughed the edges up some. Then I cut varied lengths of New Leaf grosgrain and tied them in knots to use for the tree. I adhered the ribbon using some Zip Dry paper glue and added buttons from the Holiday Mix collection in Spring Moss (kind of yellowish), Pure Poppy and White using foam tape. To finish it off, I filled the space between the ribbons and the holes of the buttons with Star Dust Stickles. This is so cute! And I will definitely make some of these for gifts next year. The red paper in the background is from the Holiday Vintage Prints patterned paper collection.

Here's a closer view of my tree ... Thanks for stopping by to check out my project!

Supplies Used (all PTI unless noted):
Paper: Holiday Vintage Prints, New Leaf
Accessories: New Leaf grosgrain, Dark Chocolate grosgrain, Holiday Mix buttons (Spring Moss, Pure Poppy, White); Ranger Stickles (in Stardust) and foam tape

Anniversary Wishes

Hey everyone! I can hardly believe that it is almost Christmas ... I managed to get all my orders in the mail on time and make a few gifts. Need to wrap a few more things and I will be all set!

Today is my parents' 31st anniversary. Here's the card I made for them ...
I really like how this turned out. I used the Giga Guidelines and the Guidelines II set to make the background paper and the Damask Designs for the sentiment. Super easy. I distressed the edges with ink and a distresser tool as well as added some Martha Stewart adhesive pearls on the medallion images. Super easy, yet a really nice result.

Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Supplies Used (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Giga Guidelines, Guidelines II, Damask Designs
Ink: Ripe Avocado, Aqua Mist, Chamomile
Paper: Kraft, White

Christmas Cookies

Happy Friday folks!

Let's be clear about one thing ... peanut butter and chocolate are a winning combination! Case in point: peanut butter cookies with Hershey's kisses. These are the beauties that I made for my cookie exchange party last Friday night. And I so love the big fat polka dot ribbon and the tag tied on with baker's twine.

What's your favorite Christmas cookie recipe? Got any cute and easy packaging ideas?

Thanks for stopping by!

Secret Santa Gift

Well Christmas is getting closer by the minute! Are you ready yet? I still have a long list of things to do!

This year I participate in a Secret Santa exchange at work. I happened to draw the teacher who is the testing coordinator and who has an office across from my room, so I had some ideas along with her list. For the first day, I included a dozen pencils and a post-it note pad. Any good teacher always has both of these items handy! I made a little wrapper and tag to dress it up using some patterned paper and the Stocking Prints stamp set. Love how cute it turned out. Sometimes a little something special in the wrapping can make a simple gift seem so much better! That's all for now ... keeping it short and sweet! Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: PTI Stocking Prints
Ink: Ripe Avocado, Black
Paper: PTI Bitty Dots Pure Poppy, Holiday Vintage Prints, White & Pure Poppy card stock
Other: PTI Pure Poppy stitched grosgrain, Ripe Avocado button; bakers twine (Shabby Green Door)

Ornaments!

Hiya! Been awhile, but I finally got to make a few cards tonight. I had really better get on the ball if I want to send at least some handmade cards for Christmas. (Admittedly, I did get a box after Christmas at Target last year just in case! LOL)

Anyway, I tried out my All that Glitters set from Flourishes. LOVE it. LOVE it. LOVE it some more. I am way into vintage-y ornaments this year and so disappointed that the ones I saw in the Crate & Barrel catalog were sold out online and in the store. Dern it! Oh well. I found a few alternates, but not the ones I had hoped. On to my ornament cards ...

These are 3.5 x 5" cards. Love this little size. Note to self ... order more A1 envelopes! I used a Kraft base with Vintage Cream and Ripe Avocado layers. I stamped the leaves in Ripe Avocado and the bow and sentiment in Memento Rich Cocoa. I colored the ornaments with Copics and added some glue with a 2-Way Glue Pen before dunking them in glitter! The ornaments are on foam tape to add a little dimension. Here's a purple one ... And a close up of the mauve-y colored one with the sparkly glitter! This one is my favorite and was my prototype for the others. I have 4 more to assemle (one of each of these plus a blue-grey ornament one. But I had to work on some more orders for my customers. Hope to get all those out this weekend so that I can relax and not worry about overnighting a bunch of stuff this year!

Well, off to bed. Only 2 more days left of school before break. And me and my students definitely need a break from each other! LOL Thanks for stopping by! I have some fun gifts that I made recently for a party and secret santa at work, so I will be posting those over the next couple of days.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: All that Glitters - Flourishes; Stocking Prints (sentiment) - PTI
Ink: PTI Ripe Avocado; Memento Rich Cocoa; Copics
Paper: PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Ripe Avocado
Accessories: Taylored Expressions glitter; PTI Dark Chocolate twill

You're a Blessing

Hi - hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and are enjoying the holiday season so far. I did get my trees up and the house decorated the day after Thanksgiving and have been busy finishing some orders for Christmas and then some.

I did have time to play with some stamps before Thanksgiving and broke out some new PTI sets from the November release. This card uses the Background Basics: Diamonds, Turning a New Leaf and Signature Greetings. Love them all!I stamped the diamonds on the bottom of the card front in Versamark ink and added the sentiment on top. The leaves were cut out and stuck down with some distressed paper circles and buttons for flowers. So much cuter in person! :-)

Well, its back to work ... I have a really big week at work and am hosting my sorority alumnae Christmas party on Friday night! Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Supplies Used (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Turning a New Leaf, Signature Greetings, Background Basics: Diamonds
Ink: Chai, New Leaf, Chamomile; Versamark; SU! Chocolate Chip

Finally ... a card!

Hey everyone! Happy holiday week :-) Last night after getting home from work, I got my Thanksgiving break started off with some stamping. I haven't made anything in weeks because I have been too busy either lesson planning or working on sorority letter shirts for my side business, but I took a well-deserved break last night and got some new cards cranked out! Yippee!

This card is a 3.5 x 5 card - my new favorite size. :-) And this image is just too fun ... its from Unity's November KOTM and I think its adorable. It's kind of valentine-ish but I think its fun to send to a friend anytime.
I colored the type writer with some gray Copics and I roughed up the card stock frame with an edge distresser and some ink. Love how it turned out. It is hard to see in the photo, but the type writer is popped up on foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by! I am off to clean up my paper crafting mess and get to some cooking for tomorrow's feast with the family. If I have time, I will be back tonight for the monthly PTI blog hop ... although my project for last month is the perfect fit for this month's theme! :-)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Unity Nov 09 KOTM
Ink: SU! Chocolate Chip, Copic Markers; PTI Chai & Chamomile
Paper: PTI White; SU! Pink Pirouette
Other: PTI Hibiscus Burst grosgrain, foam tape, edge distresser tool

Birthday Wishes

Hiya! Sorry its been so long since I last posted! Things have been crazy in the letter shirt business world with many chapters of my sorority initiating new girls! Anyway, I have a few buddies who are celebrating their birthdays this month and this is one of the cards that I made. In fact, its the only card I have made in about 3 weeks! Ack! I am dying to take a break from sewing, but not much time until I meet some more shirt deadlines. Anywho ...
There has been a lot of heat embossing going on in the blog world and I have been itching to try it out. So much easier than I thought it would be. I added some embossed polka dots to the bottom half of the card using Versamark ink and some clear embossing powder. I stamped the "flowers" with a medallion from the Giga Guidelines set, cut them out and added some glitter using a 2-way glue pen. Love it! I stuck them up on foam tape around the stitched grosgrain bow. In general, I just love how quick and easy this was and how cute it turned out to be! A definite need-to-repeat in the future. How fun would it be to make a set in different color schemes? Maybe when I finish those shirts ...

Thanks for stopping by after such a long time between posts! Have a great week!

Stamps: PTI Polka Dot Basics II, Giga Guidelines

Ink: PTI Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz; Versamark

PTI October Blog Hop

Hiya! It's Blog Hop time at Papertrey Ink. I totally missed it last month, but I managed to squeeze in a project earlier this afternoon. Hooray for craft time! :-) This month, we were challenged to show some holiday plans ... I decided to make a wrap for a super yummy Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark bar.

Here's the chocolate (FYI - it really is amazing stuff!) ... it comes in a pretty nice package to begin with, but certainly you could kick it up a notch to make it a little more personal and like you thought about it. I can see how this would be a great gift to acknowledge someone in the office without being really spendy or making them feel obligated to return the favor.
I cut a piece of Vintage Cream cardstock 6" high by about 8" wide. Then score it like shown. (1-1/8" panel, 3/8" panel, 3" panel, 3/8" panel, 3" panel) and make sure it fits!
Then I stamped up my pattern with Scarlet Jewel & Ripe Avocado inks using the Giga Guidelines and matching stamp from Guidelines II.
Then, I used my Spring Moss stamp pad to add some color to a scrap of Vintage Cream before stamping the stocking in Ripe Avocado.
I cut out the stocking and added it to a chipboard tag covered with Vintage Cream card stock and inked with the Chai & Chamomile as well as some polka dots and sentiment in Scarlet Jewel. After wrapping the paper around the bar, I attached the tag with some burgundy twine and a button along with some ribbon. Here's a close up of the tag.
And here's the finished product. The nice thing is, the candy bar can slip out and be replaced to regift if someone wants to ... and since I did some "quality control" on the chocolate, I will definitely be refilling the packaging! LOL
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my project :-)

Supplies Used (all PTI):
Stamps: Stocking Prints, Giga Guidelines, Guidelines II, Polka Dot Basics II
Ink: Ripe Avocado, Scarlet Jewel, Chai, Chamomile, Spring Moss
Paper: Vintage Cream
Other: Scarlet Jewel twill, Ripe Avocado stitched ribbon, cream Vintage button; from my craft supply stash: twine, foam tape, chipboard tag

Trick or Treat

Hiya! Back today with a quick and easy Halloween card for you. I made four of these really quickly with a little mass production action last night and they are already on their way to some buddies of mine :-)
I love making my own patterned paper ... so off I went using the Boo! set from my Stamp BOX. I added some polka dots to my paper and also to the card base. Can't live without polka dots! Once you have it all stamped, it is easy to stick the layers together and call it good. :-)

That's all for now! Thanks for stopping by!

Friends Knock Your Socks Off

Happy Friday y'all! I look forward to Fridays starting on Sunday nights! :-) I have a new job this year that has been keeping me way busy than I am used to and it has definitely been tough.

Last week shared my feelings about it with some of my college girlfriends at our monthly Bible study prayer time and although this week was not without its challenges, it was definitely a better week than I've had in awhile ... and I am pretty sure having my girls praying for me made a difference! So, tonight I made a few of these uber cute cards with the new Unity KOTM to send to my prayer warriors.
I stamped some polka dots (of course) in Orange Zest onto Pink Pirouette paper and distressed all the edges. I stamped that cutie monkey on Vintage Cream and colored his hat, face, feet and hands with Copic markers. Other than some distressing it was quick and easy to assemble a small set of these. Love the color combination and the layout ... thinking about whipping some sets up for Christmas gifts in different color combinations.

Thanks for stopping by!

Think Pink

Hi! October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I joined a swap on SCS to celebrate the cause. Here's the card I made ...I really love the Hibiscus Burst and Aqua Mist from PTI with SU!'s Pink Pirouette - just so girly! I colored the Causabella image with Copics and kept the layout pretty simple. The Bazzill "Just the Edge" strips are so great - already punched out and ready to go.

Have to keep it short for today ... lots to accomplish this weekend!

Deck the halls

Happy World Card Making Day! I have been pretty busy today, so I haven't gotten to make much, but I did squeak out this card! :-) I think I will try this concept out again sometime soon with a few changes. In general, its pretty simple - I cut some strips of chocolate and kraft paper to make my fireplace and mantle. The stockings are stamped, cut out and added with foam tape for dimension. I did also use my glitter pen on the stockings to add some bling. Overall, pretty simple, but I feel its missing something ... so I will have to think about it for awhile before trying this out again.

I got my myStampBOX goodies today ... looking forward to playing with them and creating some fun projects for you all.

Thanks for stopping by! :-)

Recipe Book

Hi all! Is it Friday yet?! LOL Anyway, I have a project that I made the other day to share ... another birthday gift for a friend of mine. I started with some chipboard pieces and covered them with some sweet Basic Grey paper. Then I stamped the Lockhart apron stamp onto more patterned paper and paper pieced the apron onto the recipe book cover. I used a Copic marker to color the apron strings, etc. The stamped "Recipes Collection No. 1" is a PTI set. Here's the front ...I printed some lined cards that simply said "Family Favorite" and added those between the chipboard covers with a jump ring. This will make it easy for my friend to add or take out recipe cards as needed. And the back just has some pretty striped paper. I love the colors and patterns in this paper - so lovely!
Well, that is it for now! I have to hit the hay so I will be ready to get up and hit the ground running at work in the morning. Thanks for stopping by and for your comments despite my lack of blogging the past week or so! Things are starting to settle down a bit at work, I think, so hopefully I will have more time to do the fun stuff in life ... including crafting! :-)

Saturday, September 26, 2009

Hello!

Hiya! Sorry its been so long since I last posted ... my real job has been getting in the way of my free time! I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, though - which is great because I would rather be crafting! :-)

A sweet friend of mine is turning 30 and we went out to dinner to surprise her last night. Lots of fun and she was totally surprised! I made her a few birthday gifts, one of which was a set of these note cards. I used some pretty paper from the K&Co Madeline stack. I love this paper and have used it on several other projects. I roughed up all the edges and added some Chamomile ink to the edges and ribbon to make it more vintage-y looking. The stamps are from a Unity KOTM. Just some sweet cards for her to use for any occasion. I hope she enjoys them!

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend so far - I had a great time fabric hunting today ... will write more about this in a later post and share some great finds :-) I also enjoyed a little football to wind down as well :-)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Halloween (early!)

Hi all! Hope you are enjoying the weekend so far! We are headed to the FSU football game tonight. My husband is an alum and a HUGE Noles football fan. He can hardly wait to get to that stadium! :-)

Anyway, I am back today with the second card for my PTI swap on SCS. I decided to break out the 2009 Halloween Tags set and play around with it a bit. I used a layout from one of the Clean & Simple blog sketches. Love how easy and versatile those sketches are. (I think this is one of the first sketches ... I will have to go back and try to find the sketch number.)
I stamped the spider web tag and then cut them down to squares and mounted those on black card stock squares. The pumpkins were stamped and then cut out and popped up on foam tape. Super cute! Love this sketch. Hope my fellow swappers enjoy this card :-)

Thanks for stopping by! :-)

This thank you card was one that I made for a swap. One of the swappers sent us all the stamped floral paper and we had to add to it. I used some polka dots in Versamark on Kiwi Kiss paper and added a blue border behind it and a sentiment in navy ink. Really quick and easy to make if you need to mass produce a set!I also got a RAK card from THE Jody Morrow of Confessions of a Ribbon Addict. I had sent her a birthday card last month while sending out some birthday RAKS for SCS and she sent me this beautiful card back! You can learn more about the card by seeing her post about it.

More Sparkly & Bright

Happy Tuesday! How great to "start" the week on Tuesday! LOL Anyway, here's another Christmas card I made over the weekend for the Moxie Fab Challenge. I didn't really like how it turned out so I didn't submit it, but I thought I'd share it anyway. I stamped the dots in Aqua Mist ink onto Aqua Mist paper. I also drew some glittery circles around some of the dots in a random pattern. The little snowflakes were added in Aqua Mist as well and I colored the santa's face, beard and buttons with Copic markers. I wish I had stamped the sentiment in red, but too late! I was going for clean and graphic, but I don't think I ended up there like I had hoped, but I think it is cute nonetheless. :-)

Hope you are all having a great day! Thanks for stopping by. :-)

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #16

Hi y'all! Back with a second post and a second color challenge. Dawn gave us some beautiful fall colors to work with this time - chocolate, summer sunrise, kraft and cream. Check out her original inspiration photo here. The colors reminded me of a sunflower, so I went to town with my hexagon punch ... I stamped some polka dots onto kraft paper and purposely stamped them a little imperfectly. I added a column of Thank you sentiments down the side. The flower center and petals are Bitty Box paper punched with a hexagon punch. Everything got distressed with an edge distresser and Chamomile ink. I really like how this turned out and will be trying this soon with some brighter colors too!

That's about all for now ... trying to make the most of the long weekend to craft as much as possible! :-) Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Saturday y'all! I am back with a card for another Moxie Fab Holiday card challenge. This one started out as an aim for Shabby Chic, but I think it turned out more Classy & Elegant, so I am entering it for the later of the two.

I stamped some wreaths and holly sprigs on to Vintage cream card stock and colored them with Copics. I also overstamped with the Text Background in Dark Chocolate and added some Chamomile ink over the whole thing. I colored Old St Nick with Copics and put Chamomile all over him, too. The green panel on the bottom has a few Fancy Flourishes and the "Christmas Wishes" sentiment. I love how this turned out - I love the Scarlet Jewel and Ripe Avocado together for Christmas - it just seems sophisticated or something!

Thanks for coming by! I will be stamping and watching football all day so I will have more posts over the weekend and into next week! :-)

Supplies Used (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Believe, Fancy Flourishes, Text Style
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Chamomile, Ripe Avocado; Copic Markers; Memento Rich Cocoa
Paper: Vintage Cream, Ripe Avocado

Moxie Fab - Fun & Cute Christmas

Happy Friday! Sooooo glad its Friday, y'all! I haven't had time to stamp in like a week! OMG! Anyway ... I've been meaning to play along with the Moxie Fab Holiday card challenge for a week. This card is for the Fun and Cute Style Challenge.
I love the cute little reindeer flying up off the main panel. :-) I used some Sakura glitter pen around the edge of the white panel and around the nose and dot of the "i" in the sentiment. I also added some Glossy Accents onto the nose and Sentiment.

Well, that is all for now! I am going to get a few other attempts for the other style categories up over the weekend. Thanks for stopping by! :-)
